Well my weekend started off rather spooky...we live in California, dry brush every where, a brush fire is a very scary reality for alot of people...
We were visiting Kens sister as we often do to get the race car ready for Saturday...we saw smoke in the air close to the barn...Ken says it smells like a grass fire, his sister and husband say nah its a bar-b-que...they start the car I scream look, look there is alot more smoke, black smoke...close to the long barn where there are alot of horses....we all run over there...the guys run to fight the fire...we start to harness the horse to get them out of there...
A lady who was there to ride her horse got the hose and watered down the area leading to the horses and all the pallets and stuff out there...we are all running like crazy, poor horses freaking out, nervous and scared...we get them all to the out door arena area and run back to help water and fight the fire...sirens...the firemen are here, Our guys had contained the fire...they were able to put it out...
It was so scarey, my daughter was so brave and never freaked out, she helped lead the horses and talk to them to help calm them down...Ken and Larry faught the fire with all they had (no more hair on their legs) and were able to stop it from getting bigger...all of us were able to evacuate the gorse...we all came togather...weeeew it was hot and thre smoke made everyones throat sore...it was alot of work...we then lead all the horse back to their stalls...Rugby, a rather large goof ball horse wasn't interested in going back in lol he wanted to eat...he stepped on my foot lol man does that hurt...but we got them all in...
back to the race car...fires out, we gotta get this finished....ummmmm we will do it in the morning before heading to the track lol...just to tired, hot and shakey lol...we head home...we all take showers and pass out...big day...
Wooohoooo Kens going to race today, he loves to race, so we head out to finish the car, get it done and loaded...head for maderaspeedway...I am all excited for Ken...I love seeing the smile he gets when he gets to race...the guys go to the pits to get ready for the start of practice then all the other stuff...main gates (for us) don't open till 3...they let us in at 12 to sit until the main gate opens...me and Ashley sunburnt...ughhhhhh feeling horrible from the sun...then Ken comes out, I video everything, practice, qualifing then the race...
He did good, he got 5th, but thier car is new to them so soon they will be better...a wonderful night of racing...man the action was amazing...bad wreck though...00 car hit the wall hard...ambulance comes, he can not walk with help, and hes not aware of much...have yet to hear how he is...I worry...for him, his family...for Ken...for all the racers...
we go to the pits and Ken signs autographs...we give out candy and toys to all the kids in the pits...it was great, we didn't get out of there till 12...got home at 1 lol...Ashley went home with his sister and her daughter...so we came home watched the video and fell asleep lol...we have another big day comeing up...
Sunday...we get up at 8 to make sure we get to Kens moms house on time...we arrive at 10:30...but his sisters are late...like always lol...His mom is taking all the kids clothes shopping for school...all 7 of the grandkids...I go along with them all...I am no shopper, and now I am way to scared to ever want to go back lol...we get there at 12 and we decide to do shoes first...7 kids...trying to find the perfect shoe...ahhhhhhhhh...an hour later we are all good...take the shoes to the car and go eat lunch....
after lunch his mom decides since we have all the kids togather (not easy as some live far away) to take pictures...the girls flip out...gotta run to the car do their hair, make-up and on and on lol...boys are like man don't touch my hair or clean me up...well we get them all done...and we take the pictures....wow are they amazing, when I scan them I will post them...they are amazing...the kids are all so damn cute and we were all proud...ok then we go shopping for the boys first...
moms pick out their sons clothes, I take the teen one that is visiting...everything is dumb to him...and he makes quite a scene in trying to get his way...it was horrible...Kens mom was so upset...we get it all...then go meet the girls who have arm loads of clothes...Kens mom gets it all...never asks prices or anything...she looks so tired...I go get her a cherry lemonaide to help out...
We all sit down and relax for a bit...kids get ice cream, we just sit and try to unwind...take all the bags out to the car and then go to Target...buy the boys more clothes, get the girls hoodies...and we are done...oh man it was so longggggg I was dead, I didn't feel good from all the sun the day before...and so we get back to his moms house, he got to watch the NASCAR race...man I missed it grrrrr....
the kids seperate all the clothes and then his mom has to take 2 of the kids to their other grandparents house cause they are heading home to Idaho...shes sad to see them go...we have to come home to see extreme home makeover...and get ash ready for school...
well that was my weekend...all the family...all the time...and way way way to much walking lol

Fires are so scary. Especially this time of year! Thank goodness everybody and all the horses were okay!
Shopping must have been a lot of work with 7 kids! How nice of you to go along!
