When you live in the ghetto and your power goes out...well lets just say don't open your door for any reason at all...EVER!!!!
So I live in a pretty bad place, I grew up in a neighborhood where people didn't hide their guns and would have shoot outs at the playground...a place where if you wore the wrong color you were dead...where if you trusted anyone you were dead...I never wanted that for my daughter...
So we move to a neighborhood, supposed to be safe...in a nicer area...then almost over night it happend...the ghetto caught up with us...kids getting shot at while waiting for the bus, or getting jumped for looking at someone wrong...kids getting hit by cars, crack addicts peddling their shit in front of the elementary school...yep I live in the ghetto...AGAIN!!!!
So tonight the power goes out...that in itself can be scary...really, really scary...and just before the lights go out, I am at the beggining stage of an asthma attack (I have severe asthma that leads to multiple hospitalizations) so I need my breathing machine...ahhhhh power goes out, I can barely breath, no power, and my daughter is freaking out...so I hit my damn inhaler way to many times, and I attempt to calm Ashley down, and while I am calming her down the damn dog is also freaking out (big chicken)...so while I am supposed to be in my stress free zone, the place the doctors have asthmatics create in their minds for peace, I am starting to get a little upset which makes the asthma worse...
I call Ken, ask him to see when the power will be back on...he calls the PG&E and they say between 9 and 11...well I think I can handle it...or at least I hope I can, because I am not going to take my daughter out in a blackout to go to the hospital...so she calms down, the dog has managed to fit completely under the bed and has found comfort in being hidden...so we are all calming down...ahhhh shhhh peaceful...BAM BAM BAM...AHHHHHHH...someone is shotting outside...
On to the floor we go...dog is now freaking out because he can't get out from under the bed...(by the way this is kinda normal, the shots being fired) so now my asthma is just kicking my ass...sirens...ok so let them do their job and then finally we get our power back on...plaug in my machine, mix my meds and finally I can catch my breath...the dof is in bed with my mom...the cat is in the pet carrier with my other dog (wierd cat) and my daughter finally is in bed...
So that has been my night so far...god I can not wait to move away from here...sad thing is, my grandparents live 6 blocks away...no gangs, no fights...all farm land and peaceful quitness...I guess thats the luck of the draw...6 blocks might as well be 6 miles in this case...but all is calm outside now...we are all snug in the house...and I can breath...

Thanks for coming by my blog!
Lisa
I hope you are moving out of the area soon. Any plans? I'm glad you are all okay. What a scary thing to go through once let alone often.
Tomorrow is my blog's birthday. Please stop by for a slice of cake. :)
Have a great weekend!
Lois Lane
